1950’s Dormer Bungalow
To refurbish the whole property to create new bedroom, kitchen and bathroom layout. In addition, we were asked to build two small extensions to accommodate a library and office space and a Sun Lounge for relaxation and enjoying the garden rain or shine.
The Library
The first extension was built between the garage and the Bungalow. This area was a potentially dead space which received very little sunlight. The extension with its unusual shape has maximised the space and added an additional room to the property which, is both quirky and functional.
The Sun Lounge
The second extension flows through from the newly configured hallway and leads out to the garden and patio area. The room is atmospheric day and night with its large picture window and French doors, providing full views of the garden and great space to sit with a Gin and Tonic whatever the weather.
The entrance to the property was very dated. The client wanted to create a lighter more airy space.
The results speak for themselves.
The bathroom was reduced in size slightly to increase the footprint of the kitchen and has transformed the space into a modern functional area.
The Living Room
This room whilst light, did not maximise its potential. The small windows beside the fireplace prevented any view of the rear garden and trees behind. The openings were made larger and an extension was built to the side by removing the large window and taking out a small wall.
This created a stunning living room with a beautiful modern bright Library and office which filled an otherwise redundant space externally.
The Dining Room
The dining room was originally going to be knocked through to create a large living/dining room, however, after consideration and conversation the client agreed that it would be better left as a separate room. This has allowed for a separate dining area of the entrance hall which is far more practical and more economical to heat. The addition of new windows has added to the overall modernisation of this space.
The Kitchen
The kitchen's footprint was increased and a new centralised window was installed, to allow for a modern functional kitchen with all the required appliances.
The Utility Room
A very tired Utility room was stripped back and a functional space provided for the necessary equipment for everyday life.
The Old Garage
This room was originally the garage for the property and was next door to the main bedroom. With some reconfiguration, new walls, and a ceiling we transformed this room into a fashionable dressing room and stylish bedroom.
